Someone asked about participating in family time that is centered around the TV. Sheykh Efendi is asking what is your intention – to please them or to please ALLAH swt? A person is responsible for their children until they reach maturity. Then they are responsible for themselves. Everyone is given intelligence to know what is right and free will to choose. There is no need to jump into non-Muslim lifestyle because others do. A responsible person must do what ALLAH swt orders for him.

Jummah Khutba: Be a Thankful Servant

Sheykh Efendi is saying that the holy month of Muharram is entering. Year 1430 is ending. Follow someone, and become a thankful servant. If you are living for ALLAH, no attacks from anyone can harm you. Be thankful even for your body, before it fails and Azrael comes. Ask forgiveness. Change to do better. Sit and meditate, think about what you are doing and why. you are accountable for the intention behind your deeds.

Sheykh Efendi is saying that the honor of an obedient servant keeps going higher, and he becomes beloved to ALLAH swt. The year in which Leylatul Miraj occurred was most difficult for Holy Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, when he was very lonely, and when he was required to declare prophethood. That night ALLAH swt showed Prophet everything He had created; He comforted him and let him know that he was not alone. Then Holy Prophet continued his work, along with the sahabis, who gave their lives. We need these holy nights to gather power to continue on the path of servanthood, to remember to avoid running after dunya, to live as Muslims, and to raise our children properly.

Friday Afternoon Sohbet: Correct Your Mistakes

Someone asked a question. Sheykh Abdul Kerim Efendi responded by saying to take one fault at a time and try to correct it. ALLAH swt, His Holy Prophet pbuh, and the awliya are watching you. They are watching to see if you correct your mistakes. Make rabita every day to understand what you are doing wrong in their eyes. What are you doing and what was your intention? Make tauba and ask for their help. Then try to not do those things, and to become a better servant. Every day the believer must progress. Then the veils of the heart begin to open.

Sheykh Efendi is saying to be sad for yourself if you did not obey the orders of ALLAH swt by keeping the Ramazan correctly. When we use our free will to obey, we can say we are listening to our Lord, not to our ego. The nation of Muhammad saws has a short lifespan to spend in worship. ALLAH swt gave laylat ul-Kadir (‘night of Power’) for Muslims to receive benefits of a lifetime of worship. But people must think about what matters – are you a better person today than yesterday? Become an obedient servant.
