Why are you not happy? When you are upset, you may get what you are asking for and be worse off. Or you may become animal. When the Seal of Prophets (saws) was sad, he was sad for the sake of others who were not listening. He was not sad for his ego. Be happy for whatever comes to you, because it comes from ALLAH swt.

Love for anything in this life takes one away from ALLAH swt and His Prophet (saws). Love for the sake of ALLAH swt only. You are responsible for all your actions, even if you do not recognize the signs indicating the right action until years later. How can one call himself intelligent if he does not see that all comes from the Creator? … and to say “La illaha Il ALLAH.”? Emulate one of the sahaba. Patience is essential to faith. No matter what your rank or title, you are only a servant.

Remember your past and run away from it. Where you came from is not your identity. Seal your past from others, but don’t forget what you did wrong. Forget two things: what you did good for others and what others did wrong to you. A ‘center’ is a place for learning to leave one’s bad characteristics behind.

Someone asked how to be more generous. Peace and blessings come from sharing and giving. ALLAH swt doesn’t like stinginess. Stingy people are tyrants. Also, be on the right side when Sayidinna Mehdi (as) takes the Takbir.

Someone asked about participating in family time that is centered around the TV. Sheykh Efendi is asking what is your intention – to please them or to please ALLAH swt? A person is responsible for their children until they reach maturity. Then they are responsible for themselves. Everyone is given intelligence to know what is right and free will to choose. There is no need to jump into non-Muslim lifestyle because others do. A responsible person must do what ALLAH swt orders for him.

Friday afternoon, 1431 Jumada al-Awwal 22 (May 7, 2010)

Someone asked a question about the time between creation of the spirit and the time that spirit comes to the world. The spirits of all people who have ever lived were created on the Day of Creation. At that time, each individual promised to worship and obey ALLAH swt only. We are responsible in this life to keep that promise. And our spirit is questioned about it after it passes out of the body. The spirit rejoins the body on Judgment Day.
